International House Newcastle is unique in the North of England as the only English language school accredited by the British Council, a member of English UK, EAQUALS and a member of the International House World Organisation
At International House Newcastle we offer IELTS classes, General English classes, Academic English, Business English classes for international students as well as TEFL (CELTA, IH Cert & DELTA) teacher training courses. We also offer a full and professional translation service, cultural awareness training courses and bespoke modern languages courses, which are essential for many companies working with international clients. We also offer online teacher training and business courses
International House Newcastle is a friendly English language school with a maximum of 200 students.
International House Newcastle has the following facilities for English language students:
Free emailing and internet access in our computer suite. Wi-Fi access for lap-tops and other portable devices. Cambridge, IELTS and TOEIC examination centre.
Full-time social programme, enjoying the many attractions in Newcastle, from the SAGE concert hall to BALTIC art gallery and hundreds of bars and restaurants, also regular trips to Edinburgh, York, Durham, The Lake District and Northumbria. This is so important as you do learn English in England outside the classroom.

International House Newcastle English language school is located in the centre of the lively university city of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne (perfect for your IELTS classes), close to theatres, galleries, museums, restaurants, night-clubs and pubs as well as relaxing gardens and parks. 25% of the population are students, so it is a city designed for young people. The city has an excellent Metro public transport system that is inexpensive and very convenient for students who are staying in homestay accommodation with an English speaking family. The average travel time to this type of accommodation is between 10-15 minutes from the city-centre. All our homestay providers are regularly inspected to be sure they offer a friendly and comfortable service.
International House Newcastle can also provide accommodation for students in our city-centre self-catering apartments at Charlotte House, located only a 3-minute walk from the school. Charlotte House is very convenient for all city-centre attractions.

Academic strengths
All our teachers are fully qualified and graduates with lots of enthusiasm for their work and experience teaching in many different countries. Our PSP programmes are probably the finest of their kind anywhere in the UK. Many of our teachers are also teacher trainers and have trained the teachers in other language schools!

The city has an excellent selection of over 200 restaurants, many of which are international, offering a wide variety of dishes from all over the world as well as local cuisine. Many of these restaurants offer cheap lunchtime and early evening prices which make Newcastle an exciting place to eat out for all our visitors.
Newcastle is also famous for its wonderful pub culture and there are many lively bars to suite all tastes as well as the traditional pubs where people can just enjoy the real ale and conversation. If you prefer something quieter, there are a growing number of cafe bars selling lots of different snacks and meals.
NewcastleGateshead is one of the finest places in Europe for arts and culture. The Sage performance arts centre, Baltic art Gallery and Millennium Bridge combine to produce one of the most attractive river front scenes in the world.
Newcastle is the fifth largest shopping destination in Great Britain with over 40 million people visiting our shops each year. Eldon Square in the heart of Newcastle is Europe\'s largest city centre shopping precinct. and the Metro Centre in Gateshead is the largest out of town shopping centre in Europe with over 400 shops, a bowling alley, cinema and indoor theme park.
The city is famous for it\'s football team, Newcastle United which has had many world class players such as Alan Shearer and Michael Owen.
Newcastle was recently voted the eighth best party city in the world by American travel experts Weissman Travel and was the only British city to make it onto the list! Newcastle has also been voted second best city in Europe for social life, and in a recent poll of office workers and students it was voted the best city in England for work and study.
Accommodation
We can arrange homestay with a British family or student apartments if you like a more independent lifestyle. Our student apartments are very close to the school in the city centre and are very popular as they are close to all the facilities and amenities of Newcastle.

12 self access computers and 20 PSP computers for our students. Library of graded readers and audio facilities in our PSP study rooms. Fair Trade cafe on the premises.
Support for international students
International House Newcastle has an excellent record in receiving and helping international students from all the cpountries in the world. We have nearly 30 years experience of receiving international students and we feel we do a very good job. Our staff can speak many languages including Mandarin Chinese.
