International Students Unit of University Glamorgan

Glamorgan’s highly regarded English for International Students Unit provides international students with English language courses, support and guidance in improving their ability to use the English language, both academically and socially.

Staff within the Unit are fully-qualified professional teachers of English as a foreign language. They have extensive experience working with international students. They understand and are supportive of students’ needs and aspirations.

The Unit is a centre for the internationally recognised University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES) offering external examinations such as Cambridge Proficiency, Advanced and First Certificate. As a language centre, we also arrange external Business English examinations of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) - an external business English examination. Assistance in preparing for, and arranging to take, IELTS or TOEFL is also available.

The English for International Students Unit provides international students with English language courses and pre-university programmes for those wishing to enter higher education in the UK. Situated on the University’s attractive campus in Treforest, the Centre aims to provide international students with outstanding programmes at affordable prices.

Courses available at the Unit include English Language Skills, a 10 or 20 week course (20 hours a week) designed to work intensively on oral and written communication skills. Students can enrol in January, April, July or September (10 weeks £1,700, 20 weeks £3,200). Fees are subject to change in September 2007).

The International Foundation Programme is nine months in duration and is for students who wish to pursue undergraduate studies at Glamorgan or at other UK universities (£5,300 subject to confirmation). Students can specialise in business, electronics, computing, humanities, law, or engineering.
